These past months Spiros has been working on a ten track album for EMI Production Music. It is about Greece and includes five re-recordings of traditional Greek folk songs, arranged as instrumentals and five original compositions.
The project demanded thorough research on the traditional music of each region in order not only to find the appropriate compositions that will suit media productions, but also authentic orchestrations and performance styles.
A release of two albums for the KPM World Music Series will be made at the end of October. The main traditional album comprises of authentic performances and orchestrations whereas the documentary album focuses on the same compositions with an atmospheric twist.
The music was recorded in April & May 2018 in Athens, Greece featuring thirteen highly skilled local musicians so as to uphold and nurture the traditional performances. All instruments were recorded in Spiros’ studio and the mixing was carried out by Ilias Lakkas at ODEON studios.
